One child and a few lemons helped inspire a movement. So what did we do? We stood together.
National Freedom Day was last Saturday, February 1st. That afternoon, DC Instagramers met up in Freedom Plaza to attend the #standwithmeet, an Instagram meet up happening all across the world to raise awareness about #standwithme, one girl's journey to help free 500 children from slavery.
Vivienne Harr (@makeastandlemonaid) is a 10 year old girl who dreamed to make a big difference. Every day for a whole year, she set up her lemonade stand, rain or shine, with a goal to impact the lives of kids her own age. Her journey became a movement. People all across the world are standing together for freedom and on Saturday, that is exactly what we did.
Vivienne was willing to devote a whole year of her life (and more) to the fight for freedom. We could certainly devote a mere few hours. Vivienne's motivation is infectious and has inspired us to find more opportunities to stand for what we believe in. I encourage you to join the #standwithme movement, follow along with Vivienne's journey, and spread the word about standing for freedom in your town.
Oh! And incase I failed to mention, Vivienne's dream is coming to the big screen! Join us on March 5th in DC for the premiere of #standwithme the documentary. You can watch the trailer here.
